Ottawa University was established in 1865 by the American Baptist Church and is a very small university with just over 600 students enrolled at the main campus. However, the university also counts several thousand students at its other locations and satellite campuses, which brings the total enrollment to around 7,000 students. The university got its name from its original location near Kansas City, Kansas. A reverend and his wife decided to start the school to provide education to local citizens.
