SHRM Aligned Human Resources Degrees in New York (N-Z)

In 2015, there were over 9,100 human resource managers in the state of New York and many of these managers successfully completed at least a bachelor’s in human resource degrees in New York. The average salary for a human resource manager in New York was $137,670 annually or $66.19 per hour.

One factor to look for when deciding on master’s or bachelor’s in human resource degrees in New York and other states is whether they are aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Essentials of HR Management. SHRM is the world’s largest HR professional society and, for nearly seven decades, has been the leading provider of resources for HR professionals.

Master of Science in Human Resources Management

The Master of Science in Human Resource Management is the only one of its kind in the Rochester area. It is one of only two programs in upstate New York whose curriculum is approved by the Society for Human Resource Management and the rigorous curriculum was designed through a close partnership with the Nazareth College School of Management’s Resource Advisory Council. Students benefit from small classes and flexibility as they can choose on-campus, online or a hybrid of both. Students learn to oversee HR programs ranging from compensation and compliance to organization development. Students are provided skills and knowledge in productive work environments and a strong emphasis is placed on peer learning and assignments that apply to real world scenarios.

Leonard N. Stern School of Business

The Leonard N. Stern School of Business offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in accounting, economics, finance, information systems, international business and more. The school was originally known as the Undergraduate School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance, founded by Charles Waldo Haskins. It was renamed the College of Business and Public Administration in 1972. In 1988, Leonard Stern, an alumnus of the school, gifted $30 million, allowing the school to combine its undergraduate and graduate facilities at the Washington Square Campus. The school was renamed in his honor. Stern School of Business offers both masters and bachelor’s in human resource management.

Master of Science in Human Resource Management

The Master of Science in Human Resource Management degree at the Stern School of Business prepares students to become strategic business professionals with expertise in managing the human aspect of businesses. Students are taught by practitioner-scholars in the industry, allowing them to explore the principles of management and organizational behavior. The School of Business

The School of Business at the State University at New York at Oswego offers programs that integrate classroom learning with advanced computer applications as well as case studies, simulations, group projects and internships. The school offers seven undergraduate majors, including a bachelor’s degree in human resources management, as well as an MBA program.

Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management

Oswego is one of only a handful of colleges to offer a four-year degree in human resource management. The Tobin School of Business offers a bachelor’s in human resources through its bachelors of management.
