SHRM Student Chapters in Alaska

If you are a student looking to go in to the field of Human Resource Management, it is important to find a school with a strong chapter of SHRM–Society of Human Resource Management. SHRM student chapters were created to give students and professionals direct access to each other, build beneficial relationships, and to strengthen the field in general. There are two universities in Alaska that host a chapter of SHRM: University of Alaska Fairbanks and Wayland Baptist University in Anchorage.

University of Alaska in Fairbanks

University of Alaska in Fairbanks is a school that embraces a blended learning style: classes can be taken on-ground, online, or both. You can earn a Associates in Applied Business Management with a Human Resources concentration. UAF offers a branch of SHRM that has helped students making the transition in to their professional career.

Being a part of the SHRM will augment the learning that happens in classes such as Introduction to Human Resource Management, Employment Law, Payroll Accounting, Professionalism, and Introduction to Personnel—among others. This makes SHRM part of a rich educational foundation that will prepare you for and help you in your transition to the workforce. You can be a Nanook at University of Alaska Fairbanks and a member of the Society of Human Resource Management.
