Ashland University

The University of Akron

Serving more than 27,000 students on a 223-acre urban campus in northeastern Ohio within 40 miles from Cleveland, the University of Akron is a world-class public research institution with one of the state’s largest campus communities. Within the AACSB-accredited College of Business Administration, aspiring HR leaders may be interested in pursuing a BBA in Human Resource Management, MBA in Leadership and Organizational Change, or Master in Management. In order to acquaint students considering a future in the field of human resources, the Akron Student SHRM Chapter keeps students aware of new developments through company tours, networking events, professional speakers, and area meetings. To be eligible for membership, students must attend at least two meets per semester and participate in local SHRM events, but there is no fee.

The University of Toledo

The University of Toledo is the state’s third largest public research institution with over 23,000 students on an 813-acre urban campus along the western end of Lake Erie. Recognized in the top 50 undergraduate business schools for return on investment by the Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine, the UT College of Business and Innovation offers the only AACSB-accredited undergraduate program leading to a Bachelor’s in Human Resource Management in the region with seven complete courses in the major. Graduate students also have the option to concentrate their MBA or Ph.D. degree with a specialization in Human Resource Management. In order to get involved in campus life, HRM majors are also encouraged to join the UT Student SHRM Chapter, which hosts monthly meetings on the first Tuesday in Savage Business Complex Room 4160 at 7:15pm with free pizza and pop.

Wright State University

Nationally acclaimed by the U.S. News and World Report for having the 118th best online graduate business programs, Wright State University is an innovative urban public research institution based on a 557-acre campus in Dayton. Priding itself on a long tradition of developing influential business leaders in programs with full accreditation by the AACSB International, the Raj Soin College of Business offers pathways for students to earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a major in Human Resources or a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management, Innovation, and Change. Students can also enroll in the Human Resources Certified Study Course for becoming certified as a PHR or SPHR. Due to rapid changes in human resources, it is recommended that HR students also participate in the Wright State Student SHRM Chapter to expand their leadership experience in supporting an organization’s workforce.
