The Louisiana State University School System consists of multiple campuses across the state, but the flagship campus is the one located in Baton Rogue. It is also the oldest and largest university in that school system. Founded in 1860, the university population reached more than 30,000 students in recent years. The campus ranks both globally and nationally. ARWU and Times ranked LSU on lists of the top schools around the world, and ARWU also listed the campus within the top 100 in the country. Washington Monthly, Forbes and U.S. News and World Report also ranked LSU within the top in the nation.
Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management
LSU offers a Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management, which is a program that consists of 121 credit hours of classroom learning. Courses that students take look specifically at how they can identify the needs of companies of different sizes and how to address those needs. Though all management students must take traditional business classes, they also have the chance to take courses that focus more on human resources and management topics in general. LSU encourages students to gain additional experience in the field and offers internships for business and management students.

Louisiana State University – Shreveport
E. J. Ourso College of Business
Louisiana State University Shreveport, also known as Louisiana State University in Shreveport and LSUS, started as a small community college. When it opened in 1967, it gave students the option of earning a professional two year degree or transferring their credits to another larger campus within the state. The success and popularity of the school led to LSU expanding the campus and turning it into a four year college just a few years after it opened. With a total enrollment of more than 4,000 students, LSUS is now one of the larger campuses in the LSU system of schools.
Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration – Human Resource Concentration
The Bachelor of Science in Management and Administration – Human Resource Concentration degree at LSUS is the same program as the one offered on the flagship campus in Baton Rogue. The main difference is that the campus is smaller. As class sizes and the ratio of professors to students is also smaller, students can enjoy personalized learning on campus. This program consists of 121 credit hours of work, which include more than 30 credit hours of general education work. Students typically take courses on the legal and ethical issues of human resources, hiring basics and some marketing and finance classes.

McNeese State University
Department of Management, Marketing, and Business Administration
Louisiana State University opened a small school in 1939 that it named Lake Charles Junior College. This college initially only offered two year degree programs, and most of its graduates immediately went to work after completing their studies. Though the college changed its name a few times, it remained a junior college until the 1950s. Now called McNeese State University, it remains a part of the LSU system. U.S. News and World Report ranked MSU as the 87th best college in the American South, and it made the list of the top graduate schools created by Washington Monthly.
Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management
McNeese State University developed its Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management for students who wanted to learn more about human resources while earning a management degree. It is a 120 credit hour program that requires students take a minimum of 29 credit hours of work each year. Students typically take core management and general education courses during their freshmen and sophomore years before focusing on HR. Some of the required courses that students must take include marketing principles, management practices and human resources law and ethics. Students will also take at least one seminar class before graduating.

Nicholls State University
Department of Management and Marketing
Nicholls State University is one of the smaller campuses in the University of Louisiana School System. Established in 1948, the college was one of the first in the state that catered more specifically to the Cajun population of students. During its early years, the university created several distance learning programs that were open to students living in other parts of the state. It later added several satellite campuses before combining all its distance learning programs into a new online system. This online system is open to both students who want to take all their classes online and those living on campus.
Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Management and a concentration in Human Resources
Students interested in management programs can enroll in the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Management and a concentration in Human Resources offered at Nicholls State University. All management students must take core business courses that teach them the fundamentals of how corporations and smaller companies operate. This major program offers several concentrations, including one in human resources. Courses in the HR concentration focus more on the law and ethical issues relating to HR departments and what HR directors and managers do on the job. Students can also do an internship for a local company in the HR department while in school.
