Southern New Hampshire University

Southern New Hampshire University is a small private university that has around 4,000 students enrolled in classes on its main campus and more than 60,000 students enrolled in its online campus. Founded in the 1930s as a small business school, SNHU offered classes in secretarial sciences, accounting, management and similar subjects before later gaining accreditation and adding degree programs to its course catalog. Its distance learning program later became the college’s online campus. That virtual campus now lets students major in dozens of different subjects and finish their studies without visiting the campus or taking classes in New Hampshire.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Human Resource Management

One of the programs that SNHU offers both online and on its campus is its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Human Resource Management. Also known as the Business Administration (BS) program, it teaches students the importance of communicating with others, using information technology in the field, working with others on small or large teams, staying informed about global news and leading others. The program includes an integrated core series of classes that provide students with up to 30 credits. Courses in the integrated core include foundations of business law, strategic management and policy, foundations of management and international business. HR management students must take at least eight higher level courses on human resources, including organizational behavior, principles of management, total rewards and managing organizational change. Southern New Hampshire University encourages students attending its main campus to sign up for an internship to gain additional experience too.

Master of Science in Human Resource Management

Southern New Hampshire University also offers a Master of Science in Human Resource Management for students who already have an undergraduate degree in management or business. Also called an MS in Human Resource Management, this program focuses more on HR than a traditional MBA program might. Though students must complete several foundation courses, the university will accept classes taken at other colleges to meet those requirements. Some of the courses within this program include leading in an organization, business environment and operations management. The university also asks that all MS students do a capstone project during their final year or final semester to show some of the knowledge and skills they gained while studying HR topics. This program is available both online and through the SNHU main campus. SNHU also offers an MBA with a concentration in human resource management and has certificate programs available that students can complete while enrolled in a degree program or after finishing a degree.
