Students enrolled in Human Resources Programs in the state of Florida are advised to check out local SHRM Student Chapters in Florida. Nicknamed the “Sunshine State” for its warm sunny climate nearly year-round, Florida is a peninsula situated between the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, and Straits of Florida in the southeastern region of the nation. From coast to coast, Florida is famous for its alligators, manatees, hurricanes, subtropical weather, water sports, oranges, and snow birds. Schiller International University

Headquartered in Largo, with campuses in France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom, Schiller International University is a private American institution accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to grant undergraduate and graduate degrees in five international countries. South Brevard SHRM Student Chapter #5611

Recognized for its excellence by receiving the 2012 SHRM Platinum Excel Award and SHRM Membership Super Star Award, the South Brevard SHRM Student Chapter is unaffiliated with a specific university to provide opportunities for any students actively enrolled full-time in human resources related degree programs within Brevard County. With the mission of offering a creative and challenging learning environment that encourages students to enter the field of human resources, the chapter has monthly meetings each semester featuring distinguished guest speakers who share their HR expertise insights. In addition to the monthly chapter meetings on Wednesdays at 5 PM, student members paying the low fee can benefit from outstanding networking opportunities, internships, mentorship programs, training on current employment-related issues, and access to scholarships. Saint Leo University – Tampa

As a private regionally accredited liberal arts institution of more than 16,000 students with a location in the heart of Tampa, Saint Leo University is recognized as the 55th best college and 11th best college for veterans in the South by the U.S. News and World Report. Offered in either on-campus or online delivery formats, students have the option to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management or a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources Management as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Human Resource Management. Although the program is accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) to provide the analytical tools and technologies to solve complex management issues, the university recommends aspiring HR professionals receive hands-on experience by joining the SHRM student chapter.

As the only private Catholic Archdiocesan-sponsored institution in the state with one of the most culturally diverse student bodies in Miami Gardens, Saint Thomas University is recognized for being the 62nd best college in the South by the U.S. News and World Report. Stetson University

Ranked as the 5th best college and 5th top value school in the South by the U.S. News and World Report survey, Stetson University is a private selective comprehensive institution with a liberal arts tradition positioned at the midway point between Orlando and Daytona Beach in DeLand. Known for being Florida’s first collegiate business school back in 1897, the School of Business Administration offers students a pathway to earn a Master of Science in Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management. For those interested in gaining more experience outside of the classroom environment, the Stetson student SHRM chapter offers members access to monthly networking meetings with fellow peers on the second Tuesday of the month at 10 AM in DB Room 125 with free breakfast included.

Tampa Bay HR Student Chapter #5568

Comprised of students from all Bay Area higher education institutions who are pursuing professional degrees related to human resources, the Tampa Bay HR Student Chapter is committed to serving the HR leaders of tomorrow by providing the tools necessary to educate and advance the human resources professions, build strong leaders, and promote career guidance. Recognized by the Superior Merit Award from the SHRM in 2012, the Tampa Bay HR Student Chapter hosts monthly meetings, job shadowing opportunities, mentoring programs, internships, workshops, social events, and more. All student members are welcome to attend the meetings as part of the MacDill Transition Assistance Program at 9 AM on the third Wednesday of the month at the Airman and Family Readiness Center in Tampa.
