As the largest public research institution in Mississippi located in the city of Starkville around 170 miles southeast of Memphis in Tennessee, Mississippi State University is currently ranked as the 142nd best college, 73rd top public school, and 29th best university for veterans in the entire nation by the U.S. News and World Report.
